The state-owned Österreichischen Nationalbank (Austrian National Bank) has been funding—with taxpayers’ money—extensive programs designed to produce propaganda which falsely claims that immigrant students are only doing poorly at school because of that old standby, “white racism.”
The propaganda, brought out to counter the inevitable results of the state’s own figures which prove that student immigrants of non-European backgrounds on average always do poorer at academics than native European Austrians, is clearly aimed at providing ammunition against Austria’s dynamic and growing Freiheitliche Partei Österreichs (Freedom Party of Austria, or FPÖ), that party’s leader Hans Christian Strache wrote on his website.
“All the levers are being pulled by the red-black system when it comes to combating any position held by the FPÖ,” he wrote.
“Now it has been revealed that the University of Linz has published a study entitled ‘Social identity and cognitive performance in adolescents with immigrant backgrounds.’
“The result of this study is that an alien and ‘critical climate’ impedes the learning success of immigrants—and that this climate needs to be countered.”
The FPÖ leader said that recently-published results in a study of “migrant” academic achievements have obviously served as a spur to generate the new “research.”
The “clear direction of this ‘scientific study’ is that the FPÖ’s criticism of unrestricted immigration, foreign criminality and the asylum fraud, is ‘harmful’ and should be silenced with such ‘research,’” he continued
“This political maneuvers and scandal is made worse by the fact that the study was funded with nearly 90,000 euros from the so-called Jubilee Fund of the Austrian National Bank (OeNB).
“The National Bank is a state institution which is 100-percent-owned by the Republic of Austria.”
Referring to the “grand coalition of the Sozialdemokratische Partei Österreichs (Social Democratic Party of Austria, or SPÖ) and the Christian Democratic Österreichische Volkspartei (Austrian People’s Party, or ÖVP) against the FPÖ, Herr Strache also revealed that top leaders of those two parties are heavily involved in the control of the OeNB.
“Those responsible for the OeNB are part of the grand coalition, namely former SPÖ top official and now OeNB Governor Ewald Nowotny, as well as Minister of Finance Maria Fekter of the ÖVP,” he concluded.
Freedom Party State Chairman of Upper Austria, Manfred Haimbuchner, added that the party political intentions of this ‘scientific study support’ were obvious.
“The aim of this project is to provide ammunition with pseudo-scientific political help to the SPÖ and the Greens. This is in the political debate.
“It is scandalous to see how the OeNB abuses its members in this way. After all, it is the taxpayers who fund their activities.”
