Homosexuals, Lesbians and Bisexuals “More Likely to be Mentally Ill”—Cambridge University Study

In what may count as one of the more obvious statements of the year, a new report by researchers from Cambridge University in England has found that homosexuals, lesbians and bisexuals are “more likely to have mental health problems” than normal people.

According to the report, titled “Sexual Minorities in England Have Poorer Health and Worse Health Care Experiences: A National Survey,” bisexuals are the most mentally disturbed of all the sexually deviant groups.

The survey follows on from an earlier report from the former chief psychiatrist for the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Dr. Paul R. McHugh, who said that the trend of “transgenderism” was a mental illness as well.

The new survey, described as one of the “the biggest surveys of homosexuals in England,” found that homosexuals, lesbians and bisexuals are two to three times more likely to report having a longstanding psychological or emotional problem than their heterosexual counterparts.

According to the study, some 12 percent of lesbian women and almost 19 percent of bisexual women reported mental health problems, compared with six percent of heterosexual women.

Some 11 percent of homosexuals and 15 percent of bisexual men reported mental health problems, compared to five percent of heterosexual men.

The report further found that the sexually-deviant population was also more likely to report fair or poor general health: 22 percent of homosexuals and 26 percent of bisexual men, compared with 20 percent of normal men; and 25 percent of lesbians and 31 percent of bisexual women compared with 21 percent of normal women.

Lesbians, homosexuals and bisexual men and women were 50 percent more likely than heterosexuals to report negative experiences with primary care services, according to the study which was published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine.

The researchers used more than two million responses to the 2009–10 English General Practice Patient Survey to create the study.

  1. I believe the term should be deviant abomination. I could not care less if they kept it to themselves but, their "in your face" "parades" are way of saying they, less than 2% think the rest of us are stupid for falling for it. However, Feminazi, LGBT and similar are joo promoted as normal so to cause as much disruption in society as possible. Being mental just makes them easier to manipulate.

  2. Well that is certainly very Obvious. Unfortunately many more Gay women now Everywhere these days which they're Very Mentally ill.

  3. There's always been homosexuality, but it used to be called depravity and that's the case in today's hedonistic 'culture'. In the Australian state of Victoria young teenagers – junior high school – were advised to "try" homosexuality to discover if they were gay or bisexual.

I do accept that some people – but very few – are genuinely homosexual. A famous Australian homosexual couple was Nobel Laureate Patrick White and his lifelong companion, Manoly Lascouris.

But Patrick White disapproved of the flaunting of homosexuality via the in-your-face gay annual Mardi-Gras. How come if heterosexuals held a parade baring their bums they'd be arrested for public indecency yet homosexuals are admired for doing the same? Something stinks here.

  4. Demian, no way is the word in that first comment meant to be 'their' – which is a possessive pronoun. Ask yourself: their what?

It's pretty clear that JJ meant, "They are – they're – an abomination." So Rhys is right and you are wrong.

  5. Now here is a question. Which came first? the chicken or the egg? Are they mentally ill because they're gay? or are they gay because they are mentally ill? It could be that they have all kinds of emotional and mental issues going on because of the trend of negativity gay people are treated with. Not that I am defending homosexuality, I DO agree it IS a sin, however, don't be too quick to misrepresent something.

  6. Actually, it is their. They're is a contraction for "they are". Learn grammar before you attempt to correct someone else's.

  7. It would make sense why homosexuals, bisexuals and gay men would have mental health issues becos they are wrestling the norm of society, God and the general public. Its a huge step to undertake admitting to themselves who they are 1stly and then going against the grain of "normal" society. To deal with their own acceptance of this and then to deal with their families acceptance is very traumatising in itself and then to have society accept it is an even bigger challenge.

  8. Did they really have the courage to write such a thing?
They don't fear the violent backlash they are are bound to receive?
Many people more sage and important than they are, lost their job and their status for having said much less…
To Tell the truth in this matters is definitely no good for the health!
