Orbán: “East/Central Europe the Last Migrant-Free Zone”

Eastern and Central Europe are the last “migrant-free zones” and the European Union has been “taken hostage by a speculative financial empire through an orchestrated invasion of new immigrants,” Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has said.

As reported by the ATV Hungarian news service, Orbán made the remarks at a public rally in Budapest at an event commemorating the 61st anniversary of the 1956 anti-Soviet uprising in Hungary.

“We should never underestimate the power of the dark side,” Orbán said, apparently referencing Star Wars.

The EU and some of its key member states have been “taken hostage” by a “speculative financial Empire” through an orchestrated “invasion of new immigrants,” Orbán said in Budapest on Monday, adding that this “financial power” was behind the “latest great migration of peoples” that flooded Europe with “millions of migrants.”

“This plan was developed to make Europe a mixed continent, only we managed to stand up against it.”

Orbán then declared Central and Eastern Europe the continent’s last “migrant-free zone” and expressed the hope that, by acting together, Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia could stop the invasion.

He went on to say that the ultimate goal of the massive inflow of migrants into Europe consisted of depriving it of its Christian and national identity.

He then stressed that Europe should remain “safe, fair, civic, Christian and free” and should regain the splendor he said it had before embracing multiculturalism.

Orbán’s remarks concerning the “financial power” behind the mass immigration apparently referred to the Hungarian-born Jewish billionaire George Soros.

In July this year, Orbán accused Soros of seeking to create a “new, mixed, Muslimized Europe” and repeatedly blamed the tycoon of fueling the refugee crisis in Europe, adding that “Brussels has come under George Soros’s influence.”

Orbán’s words were echoed by Hungarian MP Andras Aradszki, who claimed that “Soros and his comrades want to destroy the independence and values of nation states” by bringing migrants into Europe. He slammed the billionaire by calling him “Satan” earlier this month.

  1. Orban calls Central and Eastern Europe the continent’s last “migrant-free zone” but in order to see how far the rhetoric conforms with reality we have to consult the CIA’s World Factbook. This reveals the surprising fact that Czechia has net immigration of 2.3 migrants per 1000 of total population which is not far below the UK’s figure of net immigration of 2.5 migrants per 1000 of total population. This link to a website of a voluntary organization provides some FAQs about immigration to Czechia.

It includes this highly revealing information about the national origin of these immigrants:

‘The foreigners living in the country have mostly Ukrainian citizenship, other are from Slovakia, Vietnam, Russia, Poland and Germany (in this order).’

It is also interesting to note that Hungary has net immigration of 1.3 per 1000 of total population. None of these countries have considered that balanced migration would be a good policy.
