The Trump administration has cut off $125 million in funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, which provides aid to Palestinians driven out of their homes by the Israelis, accusing the refugees of blocking a “peace deal” with the Jewish ethnostate.
The incredible act of chutzpah—which reveals exactly how deep the right wing Jewish lobby’s hold over the US government—forms part of US President Donald Trump’s policy of withholding US foreign aid to all nations which did not support his declaration of occupied Jerusalem as the Jewish state’s capital.
According to a report on the Israeli Channel 10 TV news, officials in the US administration have informed the UN that Trump is cutting $125 million in funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, which provides aid to Palestinian refugees.
The funding, one third of the annual U.S. donations to the agency, was supposed to be transferred by January 1 but was withheld.
The move comes after the Palestinian Authority suspended their contacts with the Trump administration in response to its decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
A senior White House official said no decision have been made yet, but confirmed that a review of the U.S. assistance to the Palestinians is underway “in light of the Palestinians’ recent conduct.”
The cutting of such a big part of the US funding will be “catastrophic” for the organization, diplomats said, and would lead to “negative consequences for the Palestinian refugee camps in Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan and Lebanon.”
Any move to make life in the Palestinian refugee camps in those areas—already full of Arabs having been forced out of their homeland by the Jewish invasion of Palestine—could easily result in even more “asylum” applications being made in Europe. This is, however, of no concern to the Israelis, or apparently the Trump administration, because the only thing that really matters is the interests of the Jewish state.
At the same time, Pakistan’s prime minister, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, has declared himself “mystified” by US threats to cut off funding, saying that US financial assistance was “very, very insignificant.
Trump had earlier announced the ending of US aid to that country, saying that Pakistan was harboring Islamist terrorists.
US aid to Pakistan currently runs at $344,550,000 per year, an amount which, like aid to the Palestinians, is dwarfed by the $3.7 billion “aid” to Israel, to which the US gives at least $3.7 billion per year.
