Far left reaction to Donald Trump’s election has ranged from outright violence to hypocritical whining about fleeing the country—but only to Canada, not to Mexico, in contrast to their support for Mexican immigration to the U.S.
At the same time, the first reports of mob violence have emerged, with police being called out in Washington DC and Oakland, California, to control leftist mobs.
Anti-Trump protester in Oakland, California, runs past a burning barricade.
Many of the most prominent supporters of Hillary Clinton announced earlier that if Trump won, they would “move to Canada.”
Actress Lena Dunham from HBO’s “Girls” is on record as saying that “I know a lot of people have been threatening to do this, but I really will. I know a lovely place in Vancouver.”
Neve Campbell, an actress on the political drama “House of Cards,” vowed to move back “home to Canada.”
Barbara Streisand, a vocal Clinton supporter, told “60 Minutes” that “I’m either coming to your country if you’ll let me in, or Canada.”
Rapper Ne-Yo is on record as saying that he would “move to Canada and be neighbors” with fellow R&B singer Drake if Trump won.
Comedian Keegan-Michael Key said he would flee north to Canada. “It’s like, 10 minutes from Detroit. That’s where I’m from; my mom lives there. It’d make her happy too.”
Obviously a lot of other leftists felt the same way, because data from Google suggests searches for “move to Canada” spiked significantly during the night as Trump victories unfolded in key battleground states.
In addition, Canada’s main immigration website “appeared to suffer repeated outages on Tuesday night as Trump took the lead in several major states and his prospects for winning the US presidency turned markedly higher.”
Strangely enough, none of these leftist activists have considered moving to Mexico, which is bizarre, seeing as they all welcome Mexican immigration to the U.S.
In addition, the weather in Mexico has to be more pleasant than in Canada, so why would these people who hate Donald Trump prefer majority white Canada to Mexico?
Black actor Samuel L. Jackson, who slammed Trump for running a “hate”-filled campaign, was a little more honest, and said he would move to South Africa if he wins. “If that motherf—er becomes president, I’m moving my black ass to South Africa.”
At the same time, violence erupted during an anti-Trump rally in Oakland, California, where large crowds gathered on the streets, waving Mexican flags.
The mob smashed windows of the Oakland Tribune newsroom, set tires and trash on fire, and blocked roads.
Police had to be called in to control the mob, and a number of arrests were made.
In addition, reports of similar protests have started to come in from around the country, with a crowd in Portland, Oregon, burning the U.S. flag as they marched and shouting “f*** Donald Trump.” They also blocked traffic in downtown Portland and forced a delay for trains on two light rail lines.
Crowds also gathered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where only a heavy police presence prevented them turning violent.
